Quite some years ago I wrote a poem called "Connie Francis, Queen Of Hearts" and it started like "One day, it seems so long ago, I heard her on the radio, Just suddenly it caught my ear, That voice so wonderful, so clear." And that is exactly how I became a Connie Francis fan: I heard her on the radio and from that day on I was a Connie Francis fan! Of course, like everyone else who had a favourite star, I joined the Dutch Connie Francis fanclub and collected everything on her I could get: records, magazines, photo's, clippings etc. although it was impossible to buy everything during those early 1960's. I just did not have the money and always had to make a choice and ask a Connie Francis-item for a birthday present. I remember while visiting secondary school I had fixed Connie's photo on the frontcover of my pocketbook (it was the photo where she wears the blue Where The Boys Are gown with the purple heart) Every time I had to do a difficult test I looked at that photo and she smiled at me and those beautiful brown eyes seem to say: "relax, don't worry, you can do it!" and that certainly helped me to feel more comfortable to do that test! I guess this proves that Connie meant more to me than just a popular popsinger from the United States! Now, 45 years later Connie is still performing occasionally and I am still a Connie Francis fan and that is just wonderful! Enjoy this site on Connie's "Dutch career".
